Dethatching

Breakdown of Lawn Treatments:

Aerating

The simple way to explain lawn aeration is this: your yard needs to breathe! Sometimes "spiking" (poking holes) yard is not enough. At times, core aeration is needed. Core aeration removes plugs of soil and thatch from the ground via a machine. This allows adequate air to penetrate the soil, leaving you well on your way to having a healthy lawn!

Fertilization

Feed the green! Along with adequate air, your lawn needs correct nutrients, applied at the correct rate, in the right seasons, in order to flourish.

Annual Beds

Annual beds are a great way to keep all eyes on your lawn with the use of seasonal flowering plants and colorful leaves. Knowing when and what to plant throughout the year is critical!

Over-seeding

Over-seeding applies new side directly over the top of your current grass. It can improve the color and density of your yard's surface and is a great way to cover up those dead, dying or bare spots!

Topdressing

Topdressing has great upside. Topdressing can be used to level out the surface of your lawn and can help with decomposition by reducing thatch (debris, dead grass) build-up. It can be used immediately over-seeding (see definition above) to help protect developing plants and is efficient following core aeration, to help speed the turf grass recovery.

Dethatching

Dethatching is simply the removal of dead grass, roots and debris that accumulates between the soil surface and the blades of grass. This process is often overlooked, but is critical in the growth of your lawn. Whether by rake or machine, removing that which can choke your grass is vital!
